Plant Manager, Bonnell Aluminum (Niles)

Prior leadership and industry experience (both within the organization and prior)

Over my career, I have had the opportunity to work in the industries of steel - welding, aluminum – casting, metal–stamping, rubber – extrusion, compression and injection molding, as well as final assembly.

Most of my career has been in plant management and lean leadership. I have served as a Plant Manager for over 18 years, as an Operations Manager for 6 years, and as the Director of Lean Management (now called Operational Excellence) for over 10 years. I am a Six Sigma Black Belt educated through the Motorola Six Sigma program. My two greatest enjoyments in my career are educating and developing other managers and solving complex systemic problems.

Please, explain your passions and values

When I first joined the profession of manufacturing management back in 1991, I fell in love with and became passionate about manufacturing and working with processes and people. I have been very lucky in my career to have had excellent mentors along the way. I learned very early in my career that to me, manufacturing was the most interesting, challenging, and rewarding thing that I have ever done, and I wanted to devote my life to it. I have held different positions in my career, but being in the plant working with people, and seeing them and us succeed through understanding, teamwork, and personal growth is the best situation that I can think of to be associated with.

What about Bonnell Aluminum makes it a great place to work?

Bonnell Aluminum gives you opportunities to showcase your talents and reward its people. Bonnell understands that it’s the people of Bonnell who make Bonnell. They truly put their people first through training, education, and compassion. The culture is like nothing I’ve ever worked in before. People in Bonnell work hard and have fun doing it. You don’t have to look far to see people smiling and saying hi, and they are happy to see their co-workers.

Personal interests (hobbies, talents, etc.)

I enjoy playing golf, being at the range, and spending time with my family. The best time is spent with my wife, children, and grandchildren. I am an amateur watch and clock repair person. I enjoy tinkering with and repairing old or new timepieces.
